Brow Healing Phases

So you are considering the start of your brow journey and your results are highly affected by your aftercare. Please thoroughly read the aftercare page and consider your commitment especially for the first 10-14 days before booking your appointment. Powder brows go through several different healing phases but the key is patience and no touching.

It is advisable to book your brow appointment in advance (around 3 months) of holidays or special occasions, to allow plenty of time for healing of both your initial treatment and the perfecting top up around 6 weeks later.

It is important to remember everyone will differently, colour retention and results are as individual as you.

There are many variable factors such as sun exposure, age, skin type & tone, lifestyle and of course your own commitment to the advised aftercare.

This breakdown below gives you an idea of what to expect but is not an exact timescale as every healing process is individual.

DAY 1

Colour can appear 20-40% darker, thicker and bolder than healed results, there maybe some skin redness, it may feel somewhat like sunburn but any discomfort should be minimal.  Some minor swelling is normal and maybe some white blanching around the brow, all of the above should settle quite quickly.

DAY 2-4

The pigment will oxidise and darken slightly, becoming more filled in as they form a thin film, DO NOT TOUCH!  The area may appear uneven, dry, itchy, tender, red or irritated but this is all normal.

DAY 5-12

The dried film on the surface of the brow will naturally flake away over several days, the skin beneath is white with a waxy coating. It  may look like the powder has not worked or is hardly there.  The natural exfoliation process will not fall evenly.  It is normal for your colour to look weak, grey, pink or orangey while skin regenerates with the pigment. Once the brows have flaked fully you can then wash your face and tint your brows as normal.

DAY 10-30

Pigment will slowly re-surface as your skin regenerates and the shite skin will settle.  After at least 4-6 weeks you will finally see your true healed brow colour. If you need to top up with make up until you get back for your perfecting appointment then just make sure your are fully flaked first.

DAY 42-56

Ensure you attend your perfecting top up.  This appointment will tighten and refine the shape, go over any areas that have healed patchy or you can even choose to intensify the colour if you like.

BROW MAINTENANCE GOING FORWARD

You can then opt to get a colour boosting top up as and when you require, some people like to have them topped up every 6 months and others prefer just an annual colour boost, this part really is personal preference.

To get the best out of your brows keep foundations and fake tan off your powder brows, just put around it or wipe off immediately, the tints in foundation & fake tan can turn your powder brows orange.  Avoid exfoliating the brows to often, remember your brows are semi permanent and if you exfoliate too much you will exfoliate the pigment off causing premature fading.  When in the sun make sure you use a high SPF on your brows to protect them from sun bleaching and sunburn.
